Ingredients:
3/4 C. shortening
1 C. sugar
2-1/4 C. flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. soda
1/2 tsp. salt
2 eggs
2 T. milk
1 tsp. vanilla
1 C. chopped walnuts
1 C. chopped dates
crushed corn flakes

In a mixing bowl, cream shortening and sugar. In a separate bolw, combine flour, baking powder, soda, and salt. Add dry ingredients and mix well. Add in eggs, milk, and vanilla; beat well. Stir in walnuts and dates. Drop dough by teaspoonfuls into crushed corn flakes and roll them around. Place on cookie sheet and top each with half a cherry. Bake for 12-15 minutes. Remove to wire racks to cool.
Ingredients:
1 C. butter or margarine, softened
3 oz. package of cream cheese, softened
1 C. sugar
1 large egg, separated
1 tsp. almond extract
2-1/2 C. flour
1 C. finely ground blanched almonds
30 red candied cherry halves
In a mixing bowl, beat butter and cream cheese. Gradually add sugar and beat well. Add egg yolk and almond extract, mixing well. Gradually stir in flour. Cover dough with plastic wrap and chill 1 hour. Shape dough into 1-inch balls. Roll balls in lightly beaten egg white, and then in almonds. Place 2 inches apart on greased cookie sheets. Press a cherry half in center of each ball. Bake at 350 degrees for 15 minutes. Remove to wire racks to cool.
Ingredients:
20-1/2 oz. package brownie mix
8 oz. package cream cheese, softened
1/3 C. sugar
1 egg
1/2 tsp. vanilla
Prepare brownie mix as directed on package (Note: If you’ve purchased a brownie mix that comes with a packet of syrup, do NOT use syrup). Spread brownie batter into greased 9 x 13 x 2 inch baking pan; set aside.
Beat cream cheese with mixer until smooth. Add sugar, egg and vanilla and mix ONLY until blended. Pour cream cheese mixture over brownie mixture. Swirl with knife for marbled effect. Bake at 350 degrees for 35-40 minutes or until cream cheese mixture is lightly browned. Cool and cut into squares.
