Lingerie bags used for what???

Every is always looking for new uses for old things, so today I’ve got a bright new idea to share with those of you who have small children in your home.

During the warm summer months, many people use small fans in various rooms to keep the air moving.  However, this creates a problem when the fan must be placed at a child’s level; you wouldn’t want a curious little finger to be poked into the fan.  So we came up with this smart new use for a lingerie bag…

If your fan is small enough, place it inside a lingerie laundry bag with the cord sticking out the end, and then zip it up.  Be sure to use a rubber band, piece of ribbon, or string to tie off any excess material.  You want the bag to fit snugly around the fan.  Now your fan will still be able to circulate the air, but a child’s fingers won’t be able to poke between the slats of the fan and make their way to the blades.

An Easy Way to Fill Your Iron

Filling my iron with water is one of my least favorite jobs.  I have a little pitcher for this purpose that came with my iron, but inevitably the little opening in the iron always ends up bubbling over, and then I have water running down the iron and all over my ironing board.

Here’s a tip for a much easier (and inexpensive) way to fill your iron without spills.  Purchase a cheap refillable condiment bottle like the one shown below.  I bought this one at Wal-Mart for about 50 cents.  Fill with water, and voila!  A quick and easy way to fill your iron… and no more spills.
